PMO Manager - (up to £64k + Benefits) 

TEKsystems are currently recruiting for a PMO Manager. The purpose of this role is to lead the organisation’s PMO function and manage the delivery of the organisations portfolio:

• Supporting business transformation.

• Continuously improving the Project Management Methodology.

• Promoting and leading the delivery of excellence through the Project Management Team.

• Building production and collaborative relationships across the business.

As a PMO Manager, you will need to display expertise of most of the following:

• Ability to motivate a team.

• Excellent people management skills.

• A self-starter with the skills to manage and lead a Project Management and PMO function delivering multiple concurrent projects.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; applied at all levels, both internally and externally.

• Financial management and numeracy skills to provide effective portfolio budget forecasting, management, and benefits realisation tracking.

• Pragmatic outlook that understands the wider needs of the organisation, especially in prioritising the team’s resources to address conflicting business needs.

• Manages customer expectations effectively.

• Ability to manage, lead, motivate a team, to provide guidance to team members and create effective team working.

• Strong people management skills, with the ability to effectively monitor and address poor performance.

• Commercial awareness, and ability to provide discretion to any business issues that are not for general discussion.

• Applies patience a tact in dealing with other people.

• Understanding of and commitment to the principles of equality and diversity.

Key Responsibilities will include the following:

• Lead the PMO function developing, promoting and setting quality criteria for successful project delivery across all projects and small changes.

• Manage, undertake and facilitate project assurance on in-flight projects.

• Manage the portfolio risk log ensuring all portfolio risks are captured and managed in line with the corporate risk management policy.

• Managing both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects.

• Undertake capacity and resource planning across the portfolio.

• Collate and track the benefits realised from the portfolio.

• Effectively manage the portfolio overview and track changes to understand the future forecast of change.

• Effectively manage small change requests including responsible for budget, ensuring cost effective, value for money methods, resources and solutions are utilised and delivered.

• Liaise with the stakeholders across the business to support robust mandates for submission to Programme Board.

• Work closely with the Chair of the Programme Board to ensure the agenda is agreed and relevant reports are produced on time to the right quality.

• Ensure Programme Board papers are produced accurately and timely.

• Ensure all project reporting timescales are met, promoting consistency, quality and standards are adhered to.

• Work closely with internal customers, IT colleagues and external stakeholders building relationships to help facilitate successful change.

• Continuously develop and improve the organisations project delivery methodology and PMO tools and techniques to reflect learning and environment.

• Manage the Projects Continuous Improvement Plan, delivering changes and tracking the delivery of changes from others.

• Line management of the project support coordinators, assistant project managers and business systems analysts all delivering small changes.

• Support the Head of Projects in leading Management through the delivery programme, including prioritisation of projects.

• Provide expert advice and guidance to business stakeholders to define projects which are aligned to business drivers and deliver clear value.

• Lead collaboration and partnership work with operational areas.

• Provide advice and guidance to the Project Management Team, ensuring quality expectations are met.

• Facilitate lessons learnt process and ensure themes are identified and through a continuous improvement programme.

• Adhere to Midland Heart policies and procedures.
